The precursor of cultural revolution
Vasudhav kutumbkam is the foundation stone of the Indian cultural heritage. This is a slogan raised by the ancient philosophers and saints. The rich cultural heritage coupled with such slogans and the principles like Sarve Bhawantu Sukhina (all should be happy) made our country, the Jagat guru or the leader of the world.
Sri Sri Ravi Shankar is the modern version of these high ideals. He has realized the universality of the Indian philosophy and culture. The recently concluded show organized and led by him is a proof of his high thinking. It has earned high reverence not only for him, but also for Bharat Mata, whose positive picture he has presented before the whole world. The participation by the countries in his show is an evidence of the respect he enjoys all over the world irrespective of ideological, social and cultural differences. He has become a symbol of humanity and universality.
When such a man, as Sri Sri Ravi Shankar utters Pakistan Zindabad, with a Pakistani thinker, he means something deeper than what can be understood by pseudo patriots. He means that there was no Pakistan or Bangladesh 70 years ago. We were one nation enjoying the same cultural heritage and following the same set of values. The creation of Pakistan is the result of the western power’s conspiracy. It is a consequence of our own politicians’ selfishness and craving for power. It caused such a huge suffering and turmoil in the Indian society as is rarely found in the history of human race. The politicians of both the side have been trying hard to sow seeds of hatred in the minds of people for seventy years. They have succeeded to some extent but not completely. That’s why, the captain of the Pakistan cricket team says, ’I got more love in India than in Pakistan’. Shaheed Afridi made this remark at the risk of being termed seditious and anti national in his country. But he showed courage and said what he felt. I salute this courage, though Sri Sri Ravi Shankar didn’t display the same kind of courage. He tried to give explanation and clarification about Pakistan Zindabad.
Mr. Assaduddin Owaisi is another example in this respect. He says that he will not raise the slogan Bharat Mata Ki Jai, even at the risk of his life. Owaisi is a shrewd politician. He also has his own political interest to serve. He has made this remark to attract and impress Muslims, to have their votes and win some seats in the coming assembly elections. But when I say Bharat Mata Ki Jai, I feel extreme pain and disappointment. I feel and see mother India whose hands were chopped off in 1947 when Pakistan came into existence, whose crown Kashmir was broken when one part was occupied by Pakistan. Have we any right to wish victory for our mother until we join her disjointed limbs- Pakistan and Bangladesh and thus make her a healthy and cheerful lady.
How can we do this? I know, politically this is not possible. But where there is will, there is a way. This is the way shown by Sri Sri Ravi Shankar’s philosophy which he turned into reality by organizing this grand show. We should adopt the ideology of the Art of Living and unify the Indian sub-continent at least humanly and culturally though not politically. Only then we shall be worthy of saying Bharat Mata Ki Jai.
