What is the mark of a stable mind and established person in Samadhi (Perfect tranquility of mind)? How does the man of a stable mind speak? How does he sit? How does he walk?
In this 54th Verse of the II Chapter of the Bhagvad Gita, Arjun has asked these questions about the Traits of a really educated man. Like Arjun, every awakened citizen of Mother India has the right to ask our Learned Minister Ms. Smriti Irani possessing Controversial Degrees, what are the traits of educated youths who are being trained in Educational Institute of High Education. Not only the HRD Minister, we want to ask the PM and Ideologues of the RSS who claim to be the flag bearers of the Hindu Culture that what plans of education do they have; What kind of educated youths they want to develop? Do they want that the Indian should emulate people like Yogi Adityanath, Sakshi Maharaj and Javed Joshi or humane our PM Narendra Modi, Mrs. Sushma Swaraj and Amartya Sen and Ms. Kiran Bedi? What is the aim of their educational planning? What kind of youths they want to develop?
The aim of education should be to develop nationalism, free thinking human values, fearlessness and wide vision. It is a matter of regret that till now, emphasis has been put only informative aspect of education. Consequently, the modern citizens of India are good technicians, good engineers, skillful doctors, capable administrators, shrewd politicians and diplomats but not good human being. As human beings they have deep rooted materialism not spiritualism. The result is that they are selfish, self centered and narrow minded. They are religious without being spiritual. That is why, they emphasize rituals not value. They worship gods and goddess without following their ideals and techniques. Who follows the ideals, principles and values preached by Lord Krishna in the Bhagvad Gita! Who imitates the ideals of Lord Rama which He represents and which are worthy to be followed even in the present age!
Any educated person at present is very logical. He is very clever in justifying his wrong acts and blunders by presenting reasons, logic and excuses. He never confesses his sin; he never admits his mistakes. It is less difficult to argue with an uneducated person and make him realize his mistake than an educated man. In fact, at present most of the people are not educated in real sense. Vidya (Education) gives humility and Vivek (Discerning power). The majority of people are neither humble nor do they possess Vivek. They are proud, haughty and impatient. That is why, road rage cases are increasing. Educated people are forming gangs and are engaged in various types of crimes and unlawful activities.
We have to change this situation. We have to make our future generations patient, tolerant, honest, hard working and polite. The party in power claims to be the flag bearer of the Indian culture and values. It is their responsibility to make the youths of country deep rooted in the values of the ancient culture but modern in outlook. They should be hard working, disciplined and humble.
The present government at center is trying to reform educational system. It is going to present a vision document on its educational policy. It is a good sign. Some state governments ruled by the BJP are trying to introduce some practices followed by the majority community such as Surya Namaskar in schools. They are also trying to introduce the Bhagvad Gita. This should not be done. Instead of imposing books, they should inculcate the ideals, values and philosophy taught in them. If they succeed in their direction they will contribute a lot to the development of children and youths.
It is hoped that is making a new educational policy the government not be guided by prejudice and vengeance. It’s new educational policy will produce an army of ideal youths that will be rational, patient, hard working, humble and humanitarian. If the present government succeed in its effort, the future of the country will be bright and secure.
